Revisiting Food+Lab: a new staple in WeHo sandwichery

Los Angeles has always been a good lunch town. There are insanely affordable lunch specials at some of the top restaurants around town and even cheaper eats at the already inexpensive (yet no less delicious) spots too. On a Saturday afternoon however, I’m usually running around with a list of errands long enough to put the lengthiest of biblical scrolls to shame, which is why I go to Food+Lab to regroup, rehydrate, and revitalize my often nutrition-deprived tummy.

Food+Lab hasn’t been around too long, but is already a staple in West Hollywood sandwichery. I love this place, and have even given them a small mention on my Yelp page months ago.  Food+Lab is half neighborhood cafe and half gourmet marketplace. Similar to The Mercantile in Hollywood, this place offers some hard-to-find goodies as well as some every day items every cook needs in their kitchen. Although their interior is rather small, they have a lovely outdoor patio behind their storefront, which makes for delightful lunches and late-afternoon noshing. Service and prices are top-notch and their selection of baked goods, desserts, and beverages are pretty great. You can even get European orange Fanta here! The real kind with the orange juice in it.

Photographed above:Grilled Chicken and Avocado sandwich (with sun-dried tomatoes and queso fresco on a house-made ciabatta) with a small side of pesto pasta salad. $9.

Refreshing summer-time soda pops. Sprite with real cane sugar and an all natural blood orange soda from France. $2 each.

Chicken BLT (grilled chicken, applewood smoked bacon, organic lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, and aioli) $9.

Whether you’re in the mood for a good sammy, a big organic salad, or just some tea and cookies, Food+Lab is a great West Hollywood joint with lots of light, minimal distractions, and fresh food.

Food+Lab is located at:

7253 Santa Monica Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90046
